COMMUNIONS OF REPARATION ON THE NINE FIRST FRIDAYS OF THE MONTH

In 1688, during an apparition to Saint Margaret Mary, Our Lord JESUS CHRIST deigned to address her with these words:

"I promise you, out of the excessive mercy of My Heart, that all those who shall receive Holy Communion on the First Fridays of nine consecutive months, shall be granted, through the all-powerful love of My Heart, the grace of final repentance; they shall not die under My displeasure, nor without receiving the Sacraments; My Heart shall be their assured refuge at that last hour."

By inserting this promise in its entirety in the Bull of Canonization of Saint Margaret Mary (Acta Apostolicæ Sedis 1920, p. 503), on May 13, 1920, Pope Benedict XV encouraged the practice of the Communions of Reparation in honor of the Sacred Heart on nine consecutive First Fridays.
